Bryan Green was born in Wollongong in 1957. After spending some time in George Town, Bryan moved to Burnie and attended Burnie High School. He obtained an apprenticeship as a fitter and machinist working at Australian Paper Burnie, working there from 1974-1993. During this time, Bryan met and married his wife Mary and had three beautiful daughters.

Bryan became heavily involved in the pulp dispute of the 1990's where he found and demonstrated his talent and passion for standing up for people's rights. From 1993 to 1996, Bryan was Electorate Officer for Senator Kay Denman, honing his political acumen and learning how the wheels of government operate.

In 1996, Bryan contested the State Election, only just to miss out on receiving enough quota to claim a seat in Parliament. For the next two years, Bryan was State Organiser for his union, the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union. Not swayed by the 1996 result, Bryan was again on the ballot ticket for the 1998 State Election and convincingly elected to Parliament.

Under the leadership of then Premier Jim Bacon, Bryan was made Government Whip and subsequently in 2000 Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier.

Contesting the 2002 State Election, Bryan again retained his seat with the most personal votes received in Braddon. As a result, Bryan became a Minister, gaining the portfolios of Primary Industries, Water and Environment.

Due to the resignation of the late Premier Bacon, a cabinet reshuffle resulted in Bryan becoming Minister for Infrastructure, Energy and Resources.

Another election in 2006 saw Bryan re-elected again receiving the second highest amount of personal votes, behind the incumbent Premier, Paul Lennon. Consequently, Bryan was made Deputy Premier and Minister for Economic Development, Minister for Resources and Minister for Sport and Recreation.

However, in 2006 Bryan stepped down from these positions in light of allegations relating to the Tasmanian Compliance Corporation matter.For the next two years until his vindication in March 2008, Bryan and his family went through a tough time, facing a trial and re-trial whereby both juries could not reach a verdict.

Currently, Bryan is continuing to work hard for the electorate of Braddon. Bryan's style is grassroots, meeting with people from all walks of life and maintaining important relationships with community leaders to ensure best outcomes for the people of Braddon.

Bryan is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Environment, Resource and Development, Public Works Committee and Subordinate Legislation Committee. He is also the Chair of the Road Safety Council, an important body aiming to reduce road fatalities and make Tasmania's roads safe. He is also President of the Burnie Harness Racing Club.

In Bryan's spare time, he endures outdoor activities, including fly fishing, hunting, scuba diving and archery.
